Mike Martin
Senior Pastor
Mike Martin was called to SGBC as Senior Pastor in December 2013. He has served alongside his wife, Carla, in churches in Texas, Washington, and Idaho for 40 years. Mike and Carla have three children: Andrew, Sarah, and Elizabeth. They are the proud grandparents to 12 grandchildren.
Austin Hicks
Family Pastor
Austin Hicks was called as an SGBC Pastor in March 2020. As Family Pastor, he provides leadership to SGBC's growing Children's and Student Departments. Austin and his wife, Lizzy, are longtime members of SGBC, and they have served in the youth, children, and pre-school departments for many years. They have three children, Zayden, Shawn, and Amelia.
JJ Zalman
Worship and Discipleship Pastor
JJ Zalman was called to SGBC as Worship and Discipleship Pastor in August 2023. JJ and his wife, Mel, grew up here in Amarillo, and are blessed to have been called to do ministry in their hometown. They have a daughter, Adeline, and a son, Joel.
Lizzy Hicks
Ministry Assistant
Lizzy joined the SGBC staff as a Ministry Assistant in August of 2019. She assists pastoral staff in planning ministry opportunities, oversees church publicity, and provides assistance to the children and youth departments. She and her husband, Austin, are longtime members of SGBC, and they have two children, Zayden and Shawn.
Kent Jackson
Church Administrator
Kent joined SGBC's staff in February of 2020 and is responsible for assisting the Senior Pastor in administering the business affairs of the Church, including financial management, property management, and security. Kent is a retired banker. He and his wife, Sheri, are members of SGBC and have three grown kids and five grandchildren.
Marilyn Trook
Ministry Assistant/Receptionist
Marilyn came to SGBC in November 2019 to become the new face at the front desk and the new voice on the phone. Her wish is to serve the Lord and the family at SGBC through her position. Marilyn and her husband, Gary, have four grown children and nine grandchildren.
Karen Wells
Chaplain
Karen Wells serves as SGBC’s chaplain, ministering to our homebound population, those in the hospital and in care facilities. Her responsibilities also include ministering to those in grief both during the time of a funeral and the journey that follows. Karen is single and has been a long-time member of SGBC.
