WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms … If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also … I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:1-3, 6).

I’ve read these words at countless funerals. It’s comforting to know that Jesus is preparing a home for His faithful children and that those who know Jesus, “the Way, the Truth, and the Life”, can look forward to an eternal home with the Savior.

“Don’t let your heart be troubled!” This encouraging message was first spoken at the last Passover, the night before Jesus carried a Roman cross up the hill to Golgotha.

Jesus was troubled so that we wouldn’t need to be. He carried our guilt, He bore our pain, He suffers our death.

“He was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds” (Isaiah 53:5).

Because He was “pierced” and “crushed”, our debt is paid! “We are healed by his wounds!”

So, “don’t let your heart be troubled!”

“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
