THE LAW OF FIRST MENTION: THE REDEEMER

After sin entered Creation, God spoke!
To the man He said, “your labors will be hard … and then you will die!” (Genesis 3:17-19).
To the woman He said, “childbearing will be painful … and your relationship at home will be difficult” (Genesis 3:16).
And to the snake, God said, “you are cursed more than any livestock and more than any wild animal. You will move on your belly and eat dust all the days of your life. I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel” (Genesis 3:14-15).
First, God cursed “the most cunning of all the wild animals” (Genesis 3:1) to crawl about on its belly … to slink, slide, and slither in the dust.
And then He promised that Satan would be defeated in the final cosmic battle! “Satan, you will nip at His heel, but the Rescuer will stomp on your head!”
This is the first Messianic Prophecy, the first mention of the Savior, the Rescuer, the Redeemer. He’s coming to defeat the Enemy and rescue us from the curse of sin and death!
Thank You, Jesus!
“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
