THE LAW OF FIRST MENTION: “GOD ALMIGHTY”

In the first verse of the Bible, the Creator is called “God.”
We read another name in the next chapter. “The Lord God made the earth and the heavens” (Genesis 2:4). Lord translates the Hebrew “Yahweh” or “Jehovah.”
The descriptive name “God Almighty” is first mentioned in the seventeenth chapter of Genesis. Here’s the context…
Abraham had left behind his home to follow God to Canaan, a land that God promised to fill with his offspring, but Abraham was ninety-nine years old. Sarah was eighty-nine, far past child-bearing age.
As the old couple waited, God came near.
“The Lord appeared to him, saying, “I am God Almighty. Live in my presence and be blameless. I will set up my covenant between me and you, and I will multiply you greatly” (Genesis 17:1–2).
“I will multiply you greatly!” How could it be? How could a couple so old conceive and bear a child? How could his offspring become a multitude?
The answer is in the name. God said, “I am God Almighty.” … “I am El Shaddai.”
There is no limit to God’s power and ability! Whatever God says, He can do!
He isn’t God mostly-mighty … sort-of-mighty … frequently-mighty. He is, and always will be, God Almighty!
Even when it seems impossible, God keeps His promises. When there is no way, God makes a way. With God on your side, you will not be defeated.
Trust Him. He is God Almighty!
“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
