Titus 2:14

Jesus taught His disciples to approach God’s throne by calling out to our Father, our King, our Provider, and our Savior.

“Whenever you pray, say, Father, your name be honored as holy. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins…” (Luke 11:2-4).

Our Royal Father is Most Holy! The angels that hover around the Heavenly throne constantly sing out, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Armies; his glory fills the whole earth” (Isaiah 6:3). When we pray, we must humbly admit our frailties and failures. God is holy. We are not. So, we must prayerfully request our Savior’s forgiveness.

Here’s the good news… the best news.

“He gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people for his own possession”(Titus 2:14). “You were redeemed from your empty way of life inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ” (1 Peter 1:18–19).

When we ask the Holy One for forgiveness and cleansing, He mercifully comes to our rescue. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12). He promises to “forgive (our) iniquity and never again remember (our) sin” (Jeremiah 31:34).

“God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him”(John 3:16–17). Halleluiah!

I’ve been a born-again child of God for more than half a century… that’s a long time. Even so, when I come to the place of prayer, I am reminded to ask the Lord for forgiveness and to be grateful for my Savior’s redeeming love.

“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
