I’m guilty. I wonder if you are? I’ve asked the Lord to answer my prayers, and then when He gives me the thing I’ve requested, I’m shocked with surprise. “Wow. I can’t believe it. God answered my prayer!” Have you ever been guilty of such faithlessness?
The Bible promises that God is able to answer our requests. “Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Peter had the courage to ask Jesus to call him out of the boat onto the stormy sea. “But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’ ” (Matthew 14:30). Just three words, that may be the shortest prayer recorded in the Bible. “Lord, save me!” Peter’s faith faltered when he was buffeted by the winds, but when he yelled those three words, he yelled with faith. He believed that his Rabbi, his Master, his Lord, his Friend could and would snatch him from certain death.
