MARY, DID YOU KNOW?

It would be difficult to envision the interaction between Gabriel and Mary. Gabrial was a trusted angel, a messenger sent from Heaven’s glorious throne room. Mary was a simple Hebrew girl, virtuous, chaste, pure… maybe fourteen or fifteen.

“Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Now listen: You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will have no end” (Luke 1:30–33). No way! What? How?

Nine months later, in a cattle stall in Bethlehem, what thoughts raced through the mind of the young mother?  Mark Lowery, the singer/song writer, imagines her musings and quandaries and the Holy Spirit’s revelation of God’s eternal plan of redemption.

Mary, did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water?

Mary, did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?

Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?

This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you.

Mary, did you know that your baby boy is the Lord of all creation?

Mary, did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?

Did you know that your baby boy was heaven's perfect Lamb?

The sleeping Child you're holdin' is the Great I Am!

“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
