HELPLESS AND HOPELESS

Israel was camped between a rock and a hard place! The Red Sea was ahead of them, and the Egyptian army was in the rear-view mirror. They were stuck! There was nowhere to go. There was nothing to do. Nothing.
They were helpless and hopeless!
Some were suggesting, “Let’s fight.” Others quickly responded, “The Egyptian military will squish us like a bug!”
Some said, “Let’s run!” “Where? We can’t run! There’s nowhere to go!”
Still others were ready to surrender and return to a life of slavery, servitude, and suppression.
Then God spoke. “Tell the Israelites to break camp” (Exodus 14:15). “Get ready to march!” But where? They couldn’t go back… the Egyptians were there. They couldn’t go forward… the impassable Red Sea stood in their way. “Where are we to go?”
There wasn’t a single Hebrew who said, “Hey, I’ve got a great idea! Let’s ask God to open the Sea so that we can walk through on dry land.” Moses didn’t have that idea. Aaron didn’t come up with that plan. The collective wisdom of two million run-away slaves didn’t conjure up that strategy.
God did.
God instructed Moses, “lift up your staff, stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground” Exodus 14:16).
When it seems there is no way… God can make a way!
“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
