His name wasn’t Harold.
He was a herald. He and his buddies were messengers, the announcers and proclaimers of good news… the best news ever!
Hark! the herald angels sing,“Glory to the newborn King:
peace on earth, and mercy mild,God and sinners reconciled …
Christ is born in Bethlehem!”
Sent from Heaven’s throne, the angel choir appeared in the moonlit sky over Bethlehem’s hills, the same hills travelled and traversed by David, the shepherd-boy/king.
The symphonic sounds of the seraphim’s song rang out for the astonished audience. Their lowly spectators weren’t regal or royal, but humble and hardworking, most-certainly undeserving of this great honor… something like us.
The message was epic! God had fulfilled His long-awaited promise. The Messiah was born. Immanuel had become man to dwell with men. The Savior had come to redeem sinners. Jesus, the Infant King was born!
“There was a multitude of the heavenly host … praising God and saying: Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people he favors!” (Luke 2:13–14).
“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
