Moses, with God’s precise blueprints, built the Tabernacle as a dwelling place for God’s glorious presence in the Wilderness (Exodus 25-40). Again, with God’s detailed instructions, Solomon was tasked with building the Lord’s Temple in Jerusalem (2 Chronicles 3-5).

When Solomon’s construction project was complete, the Nation was invited to come near. Like a shining beacon of light on a hilltop, the Temple symbolized God’s greatness and glory, His magnificence and majesty, His power and presence. They came… men and women and children… rich and poor… they came to worship their God.

“The trumpeters and singers joined together to praise and thank the Lord with one voice. They raised their voices, accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and musical instruments, in praise to the Lord: ‘For he is good; his faithful love endures forever.’ The temple, the Lord’s temple, was filled with a cloud … for the glory of the Lord filled God’s temple” (2 Chronicles 5:13–14).

Congregational worship that pleases the Lord includes prayers of praise and thanksgiving!

Congregational worship that pleases the Lord includes the proclamation of God’s goodness, faithfulness, and love that endures forever.

Congregational worship that pleases the Lord includes God’s covenant people with their hearts knit together in unity.

Congregational worship that pleases the Lord includes coming near to His very real and glorious presence.

Does our worship please the Lord?

“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
