John 14:1-4, 6

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:2). Paul directed us to meditate on heavenly things, so let’s ponder these passages… stating with this:

“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also. You know the way to where I am going … I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:1-4, 6).

These words were spoken on the night before Jesus suffered at Calvary. These are part of His final words, spoken just before He died… they must be important!

He passionately wanted His disciples to understand that His death was not the end… it was the beginning. He had repeatedly assured them that He was “going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after he is killed, he will rise three days later” (Mark 9:31).

After arriving in Heaven, Jesus promised to begin preparation for our eternal home, a home with Him. It surely must be marvelous! It has “many rooms” or “many mansions” (John 14:2, KJV).

But heaven isn’t a place for everyone! Heaven, our “Father’s house,” is accessible only to those who “know the way” … “the way, the truth, and the life.” No one enters Heaven except by faith in the finished work of Jesus!

What will Heaven be like? How spectacular, stunning, splendid will these mansions be, sparkling with the splendor of His glory!

If you have trusted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, then be assured that the Master Carpenter is putting the final touched on your next Home… Heaven! It’s something to think about!

“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
