Isaiah 41:10
“Do not fear!” “Do not be afraid!” “Fear not!” These are repeated refrains in both the Old Testament and in the New Testament. Over and over again, God comforts His children with these proclamations.
When the aging Abraham and Sarah remained childless, God comforted them. “Do not be afraid!” (Genesis 15:1).
When Joshua considered the daunting task of conquering Canaan, God spoke. “Do not be afraid!” (Joshua 1:9).
To the young Jewish girl who would carry the Son of God in her virgin womb, God said, “Do not be afraid!” (Luke 1:30).
To the disciples caught on the stormy waters of Galilee, Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid” (Matthew 14:27).
And to Isaiah, and to me and you, God says, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
Look closely. God promises that we can be fearless because…
1. “I am with you.”
2. “I am your God.”
3. “I will strengthen you.”
4. “I will help you.”
5. “I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.”
What God promises, God will do! So, fear not!
“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
