Imagine, if you can…

You have been falsely accused of a capital crime. If you are found guilty, you will be executed. Month after month, while shackled to a Roman soldier, you await your court date.

The endless waiting is torture!

You know your accusers. They want blood, and they’re willing to lie and cheat to get a conviction. They will dance and sing if you’re beheaded.

And, you know your judge. When your date with justice arrives, you will stand before Emperor Nero.

Nero is notoriously tryrannical! He murdered his mom, and many others, all to solidify his place as the Roman emire's sureme and sovereign monarch. He gleefully sits on his throne overlooking the arena where the gladiators fight to the death and where hungry lions sink their teeth into the flesh of helpless humans. He has so little regard for human life that he tortures Christians by dipping them in cats of oil and then setting them ablaze.

If you wrote a letter to old friends, what would you say? Woe is me! Run for your life!

While imprisoned in Rome, the Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians, reminding them of God's great grace and goodness.

“My God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus”

(Philippians 4:19).

“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
