A MESSENGE FOR JOHN

The last book of the Bible, “The Revelation”, is a look into the future… God revealed to John “what will take place after this…” (Revelation 1:19; 4:1). God revealed the future, and John recorded it for us to read and study. The Revelation is God’s revelation to us.

In chapters four through nineteen, we read about the destructive judgments that will befall the earth during the seven-year tribulation period. In chapter twenty God reveals details about the millennial reign of Jesus on the earth and the final judgments of Satan and all who reject Jesus’ offer of eternal salvation.

Finally, in chapters twenty-one and twenty-two, John is given a glimpse of glory… Heaven, the eternal home of all who receive Christ as Savior and bow to Him as King.

Imagine streets of gold and twelve huge gates, each constructed of a single pearl (Revelation 21:21). Better yet, imagine a place where all our tears are wiped away by the gentle caress of our Lord, a place where “death, grief, crying, and pain are no more” (Revelation 21:4).

Imagine our eternal home, where there is no temple “because the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple”(Revelation 21:22) … and a place that “does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, because the glory of God illuminates it, and its lamp is the Lamb” (Revelation 21:23).

God revealed this to John. But how? Who was John’s tour guide? “The Lord … sent his angel to show his servants …”(Revelation 22:6). God chose an angel, a celestial messenger, to reveal to John the details concerning our future home. I’m grateful for this peek into God’s home … our eternal home!

“Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20).

“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
