EXCUSES, EXCUSES … #2

When God invited Moses to return to Egypt, Moses claimed that he wasn’t capable. “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?” (Exodus 3:11). In response, God said, “I know you can’t accomplish this task alone, so I’ll go with you. I’ll do the heavy lifting! Just be faithful and obedient.”
Then came another of Moses’ excuses. But… but… but… “Then Moses asked God, ‘If I go to the Israelites and say to them, “The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,” and they ask me, “What is his name?” what should I tell them?’ ”(Exodus 3:13).
I don’t think Moses was really asking God’s name. I think Moses was making another excuse. “God, I’m not knowledgeable enough. I don’t have an advanced degree in Theology. I can’t answer all the questions and objections. I don’t have all the answers. As a matter of fact, I don’t even know God’s proper name!”
God answered Moses’ question while ignoring his feeble excuse. “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you… Go and assemble the elders of Israel and say to them: The Lord, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, has appeared to me and said: I have paid close attention to you and to what has been done to you in Egypt. And I have promised you that I will bring you up from the misery of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, Hethites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites—a land flowing with milk and honey. They will listen to what you say…” (Exodus 3:14–18).
In other words, “You don’t have to know all the details! You simply have to trust me to provide the answers!”
God doesn’t require a seminary degree! Oh, we must read and study His Living Word. We should “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18), and “be diligent to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).
God doesn’t demand that we know it all! He only asks for faithful obedience.
“… think on these things” (Philippians 4:8, KJV).
