FAITHFUL AND TRUE

The Apostle John was given the Revelation … and he “saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True (Revelation 19:11, NKJV). John saw the regal, royal, and triumphant Jesus, and His name is “Faithful and True!”

Ask Jairus… Who is Jesus?

The wealthy and powerful religious leader had come face to face with his own impotence. The cherub-faced apple of his eye, his twelve-year-old daughter, lay upon her deathbed, her life draining away like the final grains of sand in an hourglass. Humbled by his own inability to protect his baby-girl from the raging fever and the wrenching cough, he turned to Jesus. “Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet and begged him earnestly, ‘My little daughter is dying. Come and lay your hands on her so that she can get well and live’ ” (Mark 5:22–23).

Moments later, as the entourage was approaching the home, servants reported, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the teacher anymore?” (Mark 5:35). A kick in the gut! A knife to the heart! Nothing could ever hurt so much. When Jesus overheard what was said, he told the synagogue leader, ‘Don’t be afraid. Only believe’ ” (Mark 5:36).

The Bible doesn’t report it … but I suspect that weeks later, months later, and years later, Jairus often spoke of Jesus. “Jesus! He is Faithful and True!”

Ask Bartimaeus… Who is Jesus?

Blind. Penniless. Helpless. Hopeless. “Sitting by the road … he began to cry out, ‘Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!’ ” (Mark 10:46-47). Compassionately, kindly, “Jesus answered him, ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ ‘Rabboni’ the blind man said to him, ‘I want to see’ ” (Mark 10:51).

Before the dawn of time, a Divine appointment was established. Jesus planned to meet Bartimaeus just outside of Jericho. God knew the exact date and time. Why? So that a man with 20-20 vision could later give a personal testimony of the One who is Faithful and True!

Or, ask Lazarus… Who is Jesus?

He was dead. I wonder, did he see the bright lights down the long tunnel? Did he hear the intoxicating sound of angelic choirs and smell the sweet aroma of Eden’s ever-blossoming orchards?  Were his first days of heavenly glory interrupted by the sudden sound of Jesus’ commanding voice? “Lazarus, come forth!” (John 11:43, NKJV). Who is Jesus? Lazarus would say, Jesus is Faithful and True!

What about you? Who do you say He is? Is He Faithful and True?
