MOSES: THE GIFTED CRAFTSMEN

God’s assignments always include God’s enablements.

When God told Noah to build a boat, he gave Noah the resources and physical capacity to complete the task.

When God called Abraham to travel to Canaan, the Promised Land, God paved the way... all the way.

When Jesus directed the Apostles to cross the Sea of Galilee, He calmed the storm so the journey could be completed. They didn’t drown in the middle of the Sea. They landed safely on the shore.

When God sent Paul to plant churches in Asia and Europe, God provided. Churches were birthed because of God’s enablements, His gracious provisions. When God sends, God supplies.

God told Moses to build the Tabernacle and gave him detailed instructions. God’s directions included intricate details. For instance, God said, “Make a mercy seat of pure gold, forty-five inches long and twenty-seven inches wide. Make two cherubim of gold; make them of hammered work at the two ends of the mercy seat. Make one cherub at one end and one cherub at the other end. At its two ends, make the cherubim of one piece with the mercy seat. The cherubim are to have wings spread out above, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and are to face one another. The faces of the cherubim should be toward the mercy seat”(Exodus 25:17–20).

Moses might have rightly said, “But God, these people were brick-makers in Egypt. They’re simple shepherds. There’s nobody named Picasso or Michelangelo among the Hebrews. How can we possibly fashion gold into winged cherubs bowing over the mercy seat?”

God’s assignments always include God’s enablements.

“The Lord also spoke to Moses: ‘Look, I have appointed by name Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. I have filled him with God’s Spirit, with wisdom, understanding, and ability in every craft to design artistic works in gold, silver, and bronze, to cut gemstones for mounting, and to carve wood for work in every craft. I have also selected Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to be with him. I have put wisdom in the heart of every skilled artisan in order to make all that I have commanded you: the tent of meeting, the ark of the testimony, the mercy seat that is on top of it, and all the other furnishings of the tent—the table with its utensils, the pure gold lampstand with all its utensils, the altar of incense, the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, the basin with its stand—the specially woven garments, both the holy garments for the priest Aaron and the garments for his sons to serve as priests, the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense for the sanctuary. They must make them according to all that I have commanded you’ ” (Exodus 31:1-11).

Has He directed you to minister and serve here or there? He’ll provide. Has God opened a door of opportunity to do this or that? God will provide. Has God invited you to go or give? He’ll lead! He’ll grant the resources! He’ll provide!

When God sends, God supplies. Always. God’s assignment will include God’s enablement.
