If you are a born-again Christian, then God is your Father.
Take a moment to absorb the truth of that statement... You are the King’s kid!
“All who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’ The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:14-17, ESV).
The Devil doesn’t want you to know or believe this incredible truth. He wants to remind that you’re not perfect, that you often do things you shouldn’t, and you fail to do the things you should.
Even the Apostle Paul struggled with doubt and sin. He said, “I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. For the desire to do what is good is with me, but there is no ability to do it. For I do not do the good that I want to do, but I practice the evil that I do not want to do... What a wretched man I am!” (Romans 7:18-24, CSB). Then, just a couple of verses down, Paul declares, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1, ESV).
But listen up, King’s kids!
“God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:4-6, ESV).
Get that! You are forgiven! And you are already seated with Him in glory. He’s saving you a seat, right beside the throne! You’re special!
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior” (Isaiah 43:1-3, ESV).
To repeat, God says to you, “I have called you by name, you are mine.”
What would it be like to be born into the Rockefeller clan? Ok, you weren’t, but you were adopted into the Jesus clan!
Maybe you need to straighten your crown, sit up like royalty, and tell the devil to stay out of your business. Quote him a little truth. Remind him that he is the eternal loser. You are son or daughter to the Most High God!
