The Healer

There is nothing too hard for God!

When the Israelites were caught between a rock and a hard place at the Red Sea, God opened the Sea to allow a million runaway slaves to cross on dry land. When they were pursued by the Egyptians, God closed the Sea upon them, thus defeating the most powerful army on earth... no spears or arrows were necessary.

Afterward, Moses led the nation into the dusty-dry dessert. Without water, death was certain. Three-days into the journey they camped at Marah where there was water. Sadly, the bitter waters of Marah were undrinkable.

Moses “cried to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a log, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet” (Exodus 15:25, ESV). God used an old rugged log, certainly foreshadowing Calvary’s Cross, to heal the undrinkable bitter water, thus saving His chosen people.

That’s when God spoke, saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the LORD your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, your healer” (Exodus 15:26, ESV).

LORD comes from the Hebrew word Yahweh or Jehovah and healer comes from the Hebrew word Rappha. God is Jehovah Rappha. God is our Healer!

We know that God can heal any physical disease. His ability to heal is found in the Old Testament and the New Testament. He is able to heal. God is our Healer!

Are you sick or facing the prospects of a surgical procedure? Do you have a friend or family member who is struggling with issues related to health? If you are praying for physical healing, here are a few considerations for you to chew on...

First, we are all going to die. Ever since the Fall, mankind has lived and died. We live in fallen bodies susceptible to disease and death. Unless Jesus blows the trumpet, we will all leave earth via death’s door. Why? Because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).

Second, God is our Father, and He mercifully invites us to come boldly to Him with our concerns. We know that God is the same yesterday, today and forever! He was, is and will always be able to heal any infirmity! He says, “Ask... seek... and knock!”

I strongly suggest that you snuggle up next to your Heavenly Father and ask Him to heal. He loves His children. He’s waiting for you to ask!

A third consideration is this... God is God. He has a plan. Remember, Jesus taught us to pray, “Thy will be done!”

So here it is. Pray believing! Boldly beg for the Father’s mercy and grace! And submit, knowing that Father knows best! Remember, the cross heals everything, forever!
